Twitter Rebrands itself to "X": A Visceral Reaction
50Well, it finally happened. The Twitter you remember no longer exists, as it is now something else entirely. Elon Musk finally went through with his earlier desires of rebranding the platform, renaming it to “X.” I thought it was just about the dumbest thing I ever heard. You already saw me b*tch about it the other day on the community tab after it happened – that night, I recorded this. Apologies it doesn’t come with the usual pictorial references, screencaps, memes, or other material; this was just a visceral reaction to the whole thing with everything on my mind up to that point.
Furries had up to this point always been ready to jump ship, preparing accounts on Mastadon and Threads just in case something were to ever happen. None of them ever really liked Elon Musk or what he was all about, let alone the incremental changes he made after a little corporate shake-up. For some, this just so happened to be the straw that broke the collective Camels back, so they all jumped ship and went on down to a platform called BlueSky. Now the excitement and intrigue surrounds the fact that only some people manage to get “invite tokens,” as you can’t just make an account and expect to be using the platform same day – site probably can’t accommodate so much traffic (yet.) You gotta wait for a token, -then- you can make an account.
In any case, it’s probably just a fad and the very same people that “jumped ship” will prolly be back to Twitter- oh, I'm sorry, "X" in a week, unless daddy Elon decides to implement more changes that rub people the wrong way.
Either way, might make a part two, but I got one bit in mind for how to convey all this in a nutshell.
