[Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn] Norse folklore horror game
17Unforgiving A Northern Hymn is a short demo of a future horror game made by 5 students in Sweden. The game is a norse/swedish folklore horror game and makes great use of audio and lighting to create a tense atmosphere.
Unforgiving A Northern Hymn is a very dark game filled with monsters, creatures and other beings from norse folklore and mythology. In Unforgiving A Northern Hymn you play as a random woman who finds herself out in a deep, dark forest and must make her way to safety and avoid these spooky supernatural beings. Unforgiving A Northern Hymn throws a handful of such beings at you in this game and includes Näcken, a troll and naked lady of which I'm unsure what she is.
Unforgiving A Northern Hymn gives you nothing but a box of matches to light the way through dangerous areas. There are talking trees who appear to be former humans. Cursed people who no longer remember what they used to be. The idea to use norse/swedish folklore and mythology is a great idea and has been used by other horror game developers for their games as well. One example is "Through the woods". It really works well as norse folklore has so many creepy beings that just can't wait to fuck with you.

Spoilers:
Unforgiving A Northern Hymn has jumpscares and other slightly less in-your-face scares. (As expected in a horror game) in case you are on the fence on whether or not to watch. It's not too bad though as there is pretty much only one real jumpscare.
This playthrough (gameplay video) of Unforgiving A Northern Hymn is roughly 18 minutes long. A little bit has been cut out and a normal playthrough will be about 18-25 minutes long depending on how brave you are.
