April 22, 2003 - As we originally reported last week, several of the latest print magazines had testified that two of Sega's popular 16-bit titles Altered Beast and Vectorman would be making an appearance on PlayStation 2 at this year's E3. Sure enough, Sega of America announced this morning that it would be unveiling the Pseudo Interactive-developed actioner at the show in anticipation for its early 2004 release.

"Vectorman doles out destruction in spades," said Mike Fischer, vice president of marketing, Sega of America, Inc. "With a massive arsenal of circuit-shredding weapons and upgrades, things are bound to get messy. You'll almost start feeling bad for the Orbots. Almost."

Originally produced on the Sega Genesis almost a decade ago, the new Vectorman game will once again cast players as the modular superhero robot. Empowered with the ability to upgrade and change his parts, VM will have access to 15 different weapons and 25 various upgrades as he strives to rescue the planet Gamma 6 from an evil Orbot known as Volt.

While the meat of the game is still being saved for E3, certain details have been revealed to appease the expected horde of hungry fans. The advanced physics engine that allows for destructible, fully interactive environments and War of the Monsters-like debris shields are but a few of them. Also interesting is the purported "advanced artificial intelligence" that instructs the Orbots to live and react realistically as they work and observe activity around them. Adaptation and teamwork are said to be eerily accurate.
