This was a LONG stream. I'll summarize what we learned, in case you'd rather not skim through all of it:

- The new RetroTINK 5x beta firmware that has Time Base Correction worked great with VHS tapes. Using that to capture 480i onto your PC is an excellent way to do it.

- Using a dual VHS/DVD combo was by far the easiest: Set everything up, press one button, then wait for the disc to finalize. Then rip the files from disc. Quality will vary based on player and mine was "fine" - Not terrible, but not as good as the other options.

- Using separate VHS / DVD recorders to do that same thing is also pretty easy, but one of the two needs a Time Base Corrector. Also, the quality of the VHS player will greatly affect the final results.

- Copying to DVD first takes the longest time, but there's no worrying about interlaced capture settings, compression, capture cards, etc.

- I'd personally prefer a standalone device like the brookstone one, but the quality wasn't the best.

I'll have more info on VHS capture soon, but that summarized today's findings.
