For the IoT domain cloud based solutions are getting more and more important. In this context buzzwords like SaaS, PaaS, or just microservices are common vocabularies. This trend of course also affects the device abstraction and the device integration field which represents an important pillar of the IoT domain.

One of the main targets of Eclipse Vorto is to provide means for harmonizing and simplifying the process of integrating devices into IoT platforms or more generic into IoT solutions. This brought up the question: How can we make it even easier and more comfortable to use Vorto? And how can we build up an ecosystem related to the device abstraction topic.

In this talk I will give a short overview on Vorto and I will present new ideas and new features of the Vorto repository which we consider as important for building up a device abstraction related ecosystem. The code generators will be realized as microservices that register automatically and during runtime to inform the repo about their capabilities. The generated source code can be downloaded comfortably using the Eclipse Vorto Toolset, a web interface or a command line interface tool. In addition the repo will provide statistics about the popularity of specific generators and specific device models.
