A24's Warfare is a harrowing depiction of a Navy SEAL mission gone wrong in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2006, from Oscar-nominated screenwriter and filmmaker Alex Garland and Iraq War veteran and first-time director Ray Mendoza.
To recapture the stories of the real-life Navy SEALs, the duo enlisted the talent of a stacked young ensemble, who were put through intense training in preparation for this visceral look at the trenches of war. In 25 days, the cast — featuring Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I've Loved Before), Michael Gandolfini (Daredevil: Born Again), and more — shot in real time with extended takes to portray the violence and terror a group of men in their 20s and 30s overcame together.
