Hostile Architecture is something that most people find "ugly" at best and "pointless cruel" more often than not. Spending tax-payer dollars to make our cities less welcoming to EVERYONE with the specific goal of making them uninhabitable spaces for the most vulnerable in our communities. When city shelters are compared to our current prison system, and not being open 24 hours a day due to underfunding and understaffing on top of being under equipped, paired with the fact that homelessness is at an all time high currently due to the ongoing housing market crises, I really cannot understand what the expectation from our government/city governments are other than "we hope the unhoused will find other spaces to quietly die in outside our municipal lines". What's truly disgusting to me is we have seemingly transitioned from offering useless band-aid solutions to being openly hostile towards the very existence of people who are truly just victims to a Capitalist society that demonizes them with it's dogma for "failing to stay afloat" and faulting them as individuals rather than address that fact that our current system is actively failing more and more people each day. America truly treats it's felons and unhoused as 2nd class citizens who deserve nothing but pain and exploitation and until we all voice how disgusting and unacceptable this behavior is, and start petitioning/voting for change, we can fully expect that at the FIRST opportunity for our own communities to drop us, they will. Some people like to say these Hostile measures are done in an effort to "reduce crime" in the area which conveniently ignores the concept that the majority of the crimes they are discussing are done by impoverished people who are in desperate situations. Because Capitalism doesn't actually allow us to attempt to solve or even ADDRESS the issue of wealth inequality, gentrification, or inflation in our communities, we are currently only being offered solutions that hide or relocate the problem, the problem of people starving to death, the problem of people dying from exposure to the elements, problems in a country with more than enough space, more than enough houses, and more than enough food.

Personally, I am hoping to find time or a way I can volunteer with my local shelters despite my nocturnal sleep schedule for work, in a effort to connect with community leaders as well as unhoused individuals so I can learn more about my local situation as well as what can truly be done to help people who are JUST as entitled to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" as I am. Bottom line, we as a people can do SO MUCH better than this, and we should never of failed this hard to begin with.
