This trick was originally found by a couple of tricksters called Hold X to Trick. But their method was way more complicated. We made it easy.

Steps:

1. Play through the beginning part of the mission "Cortana" on any difficulty with at least three players. When you drop through the first hole, there will be a Deployable Cover just ahead. Have one player pick this up.

2. Continue through the mission until you find a dead Brute Chieftain and the Gravity Hammer should be right next to him. Pick this up and backtrack to the beginning of the mission.

3. Once you make it to the drop hole above you, you need to double jump the person with the Hammer and Deployable Cover into the hole. The second and third person can now spawn on the person above.

4. Go to the very beginning of the mission and drop the Deployable Cover right beneath the hole. Double head jump a second player and swing your hammer when they are at least several feet above you.

5. Stand in the slanted corner with the purple ledge underneath, making sure you are walking back into it.

6. Have the other two players die at the exact same time.

7. The third person should spawn above. The barrier is floating so they won't be able to make it alone. Throw a grenade where the two walls meet and this should boost them high enough to make it to the hidden room on Cortana in Halo 3!
