It's been three years since rumours began to circulate that suggested CAPCOM were in the process of remaking their 2005 survival horror masterpiece Resident Evil 4.

Following the enormous success of both the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes this decision makes a lot of logical sense. Just simply move onto the next mainline entry in the series and give it a fresh coat of paint, right?

The only issue is that Resident Evil 4 still feels a contemporary title in 2022. How can a company remake something that feels so fresh it received a re-release as recently as 2019?

Suffice to say, with the original still perfectly playable and extremely enjoyable even today, what would a Resident Evil 4 remake even look like? That's the question I'm here to try and answer. I’ve dug into every rumour I can find, alongside analysing the Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 remakes for any common threads that may hint at what’s to come.

Enjoy.
