Yes, you heard that right. Heihachi is making his grand return to Tekken 8 as a DLC character this fall. Let’s dive into all the juicy details!

The big reveal came during EVO 2024, and fans went wild. Heihachi has been a staple of the Tekken series, and his absence was definitely felt in Tekken 7, especially since his storyline seemingly ended there. But as we all know, in the world of Tekken, nothing is ever truly over.

We had the chance to chat with Tekken producers Katsuhiro Harada and Kohei Ikeda about bringing Heihachi back. Harada explained that while Tekken 7 focused on the final showdown between Heihachi and his son Kazuya, the response from fans showed a strong desire for Heihachi’s return. They missed the old man, and honestly, so did we!

Ikeda shared some interesting tidbits about the preparations for Heihachi’s return. They had hinted at it with elements like the 30th-anniversary logo, which subtly incorporated Devil’s wings that form Heihachi’s silhouette when viewed from a distance. Pretty clever, right?

As for Heihachi’s gameplay, Ikeda teased that it’s still too early to go into details, but they’re focusing on recreating his powerful fighting style that fans know and love. Plus, there are hints about a new story involving monks, which might influence some of his moves. It’s all very intriguing!

Heihachi joins the Tekken 8 roster as the third DLC character, following Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska. But that’s not all. Tekken 8 is also getting its first-ever historical DLC, “The Dark Awakens,” which continues the epic clash between the Kazama and Mishima families. This new chapter will be available as a free update for all players.
