For action cameras, there are currently two main methods to reduce wind noise: using an external microphone or decreasing wind noise from the camera itself. However, the downside of an external microphone includes the risk of detachment at high speeds and the inconvenience of installation each time. Also, if the microphone is placed inside the helmet, ambient noise reduces significantly, and in specific situations, interactions with people might not be recorded clearly. Trying to mitigate the downsides of reducing camera wind noise is challenging because at certain speeds, wind noise is inevitable and can only be controlled to a certain extent.

After experimenting with three different noise reduction materials, I believe they all yield decent results. Among them, the simplest is using sponge material for noise reduction. You can purchase dishwashing sponges from the supermarket and then use 3M double-sided tape to secure them over the sound holes of the sports camera. The thickness of the sponge can be adjusted, where a thicker sponge generally provides better results, but it's important to consider whether it might obstruct the camera lens view.
