The Simon Commission
* In 1928, the new Tory government of Britain sent a seven member Commission in India under the chairmanship of Sir John Simon.
* Its objective was to look into the functioning of the Constitutional system in India and to suggest changes.
* But the Indians strongly opposed the commission because it had no Indian member - all were British.
* All parties including the Congress and the Muslim league jointly participated in the demonstration against it.
* When the Simmon Commission arrived in India, it was
