WWF Superstars is the often forgotten third and final Rare produced WWF game for Nintendo's 8-bit systems, and though it''s on the Game Boy, it stands up amazing well to its console predecessors. The graphics are all big and detailed, there are a fair variety of moves available, and the wrestler's themes all sound great.
This title got absolutely crushed when Nintendo Power rated it, which I always thought was a little unfair - it really is like a mash-up of the best pieces of the WWF Wrestlemania and WWF Wrestlemania Challenge. Just a bit more monochromatically green. It even has Vince McMahon, looking like a bigger tool than ever on the small screen! Oh yeah!
I was always a huge fan of the individualized taunts and commentary offered before and after each match - they did a nice job of bringing out a bit of the wrestlers' personalities, which was something that these early wrestling games often struggled with.
