The problem with bots on YouTube just keeps getting worse and worse.

First we had the promoters. Then we had the flirters. And now, we have the racist bots.

So why am I bringing this up?

Recently, I was in the midst of watching one of BenjaMage’s streams (the same guy who has been on YouTube under a plethora of other names themed around either “MegaMan” or “Final Fantasy”) when a bunch of comments that were a bit anti-semitic in nature popped up and started to wreak havoc. To say the least, the chaos kind of put a damper on the enjoyment of the stream for everyone viewing it (myself included) to the point where the first video ended abruptly and had to be continued in a different one.

I’m not sure if these types of bots were in other streams as well and resulted in several innocent users getting banned, but if that’s the case, then I feel like this issue as well as many other issues involving bots have to be addressed.

YouTube themselves say that “spam” is not allowed on the platform, but yet they allow these various spambots to run rampant in various videos through the comments.

Does anyone else sense the hypocrisy there?

YouTube really needs to find a way to either limit or eliminate the presence of spambots on the platform because this whole situation involving them is getting completely out of hand.

(Note: I’ve set a little bit of strictness to the comments in this video because I get the feeling that a bot might be watching it and may be getting ideas. If you’re a bot and watching this video, DON’T! Everyone (myself included) is onto you and you better stop.)
