YOU need a KOROK LEAF: It can be found by Link from the Great Plateau's trees. No you can easily cross all lakes because LINK is not such a great swimmer in the Breath of the Wild.

Just repeatably press the button to wave with you Korok leaf... this is way faster then just press and Holding it for a super hit.
