One essay a week. A car built right and lost to a cut corner. A machine retired while it was still the best. A culture that traded the worship of accomplishment for the worship of spectacle. The same disease, traced from a single engine bay up to a civilization, because it's the same disease at every scale.
The name is literal. Disillusioned: I saw through it. Non-partisan: the thing I distrust isn't a party, it's concentration — amassed, unaccountable power, whoever's wearing the boot.
No spectacle here, on purpose. One take, in the dark, said plainly. The thumbnail won't scream and the title won't lie.
I'm here to keep the record through a declining age, and to fire up a few minds already leaning toward the flame. Venture in and read to the end — the work wins either way.
