This event will be hosted at www.twitch.tv/effingcontroller.
On October 29th, 2014 starting at noon Pacific time, I'll be running a charity stream supporting the National Brain Tumor Society. I'm doing this in honor of my father, Larry, who I lost to glioblastoma multiforme in 2008. I'm planning to stream until midnight.
Glioblastoma multiforme is an incurable form of brain tumor. Survival rates past five years are less than 10%; the median length of survival after diagnosis is 14.6 months.
Join the fight against this disease by pledging support to the National Brain Tumor Society. I'm hoping to raise $1,000 to help their efforts to find better treatments and to provide support for patients and their families.
Even if you can't pledge, I'd love to have you guys watching the stream. As I mention in the video, I've decided to host this event on my Dad's birthday so that I can not only do something to honor his memory, but also to make the day a little bit easier for me.
For more information about this disease, please visit the National Brain Tumor Society's page at www.braintumor.org/brain-tumor-information. NBTS oversees the the Defeat Glioblastoma Multiforme research collaborative, which you learn more about at www.defeatgbm.org.
I selected this charity based on a solid rating from a charity watchdog group called Charity Navigator. I encourage you to view their report here: www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=10659.
