12 of the best Real Time Strategy Games on Steam l 2024
17It's been nearly 2 years and a some people have kindly reminded me my 2022 list was a little bit of out date. So with RTS titles seemingly back in vogue I thought it was time to re-evaluate that video.
Early access titles proved to be something of a discussion point. Should I only include finished games? In the end I decided if the early access had enough content to consider it as value for money then I would include it.
You may also notice a lack of sequels or originals, I decided where a game had multiple entries to include what I consider to be the best, it just leaves more room for more entry's otherwise we might have a top 12 of age of empires and command conquer games.
As usual please remember this is just my thoughts based on games I have played or at least a fair knowledge of.
Also worth noting is the diversity within the RTS Strategy genre. There are so many titles that some claim as RTS's while others have equally strong opinions that they are not. Aliens DD is a prime example, it's not a traditional base building RTS however IMO it does involve plenty of real time strategy.
If you have watched any of the other best of video's I hope you can see some progression in the quality and presentation style.
This updated RTS list includes the new Pro's and Con's section, box-art and info boxes and for the upcoming titles a features section.
