[Somehow Level 7 in this mission pack did not record for me while I was playing or I couldn't find the file itself. This is really weird because I did have recording mishaps before and now I always check that the recording started before I start to play, but still yet I could not find the video file for this level. So I was forced to use some codes to get back to this missed level. The result is an overlay map and the level name is replaced with the message 'debug mode enabled', the correct name of the level is 'Ammunition and Weapon Storage'. I didn't pay attention to the new overlay map because I was used to the old one and I had to use the code to get my place back at this level 7 so I can have the recording. The code was turned off for all the other levels and I would never cheat or use codes in any of my game recordings and it was just used only in this special circumstance because I lost the original video file which I'm not even sure where it went lol - when you work with many files within a directory this sort of thing can happen. After this, now I check every file and name it after a recording session to make sure it's really there and none of this funny business of it disappearing ever happens again grrr.. lol]

I initially wanted to start my YouTube channel with this game, so then you can get an idea as of what I think of this game by me just saying that :) I really think this is a great game and a start to bigger and greater things. Here is why I think that.. (Btw I couldn't start my channel with this game because at that time the recording came out in a box surrounded by huge black borders, a technical issue that somehow by chance I managed to fix it now :)

So with 3D games, I started with Wolfenstein 3D, which even being officially the 1st 3D game of it's kind I didn't really like it that much. I had the shareware as a kid which came on two 3.5 inch floppy diskettes :] so I only played the first episode and then nothing else. The same went for Wolf 3D. Then a few years ago, I played both in order, first Wolf then Blake. I honestly thought Wolf was very boring and repetitive but I loved Blake :D so here is that game.

Even as a kid, I thought Wolf was pretty interesting but it was just not that great and as an adult I thought even less of it. But Blake held my interest both as a kid and as an adult, which I think it's a great thing. When I was a kid in 1993, I thought Blake was the greatest thing ever (and it was). The game featured much more than Wolf. I mean you got informants, vending machines, a wide variety of different looking & colorful levels with diverse enemies and types (not just the same soldiers over and over again like in Wolf), more fascinating and different functioning space guns & weapons, I mean wow!, just WOW! you can figure and see all my excitement with this :D

I did play Wolf as an adult for myself out of duty, thinking 'Ok, I'll start with this one' then play Blake, before putting my game plays on YouTube. So I will be putting my game play of Blake on YouTube as I will be playing it a 2nd time for my channel here :)

Now onto the game itself, I think it's very interesting to play and watch (since you are here). I liked it very much. I don't want to reveal too much about it in this text overview and review but let me assure you that it is indeed a very fun game :o)

One thing though is that you (or I, for that matter) need to be a pretty good keyboard player as this game was not really configurable or playable much using the mouse and neither you can configure all the movement and action keys to your liking, so you are sort of stuck with the configuration the game designers give you, which I think is good but not great. But it is definitely playable this way too.

For the reason of play control, I first started the game on HARD (the game has 4 difficulty skills: Easy, Medium/ Normal, Hard and Very Hard) but I could not do it and found myself dying a lot (lol). Now I think it could be done on higher difficulties but I think you must be very good with that stiff keyboard configuration and it would require a lot of very fast key presses with strafing and also to know beforehand where all the enemies are somewhat because if not you will just get killed very quickly. So I think a few practice runs of each level may be necessary until you know the level mechanics quite well enough to pass it. Now I don't have so much time for my luxury and I do have a lot of other games to go through, so for a reasonable challenge I chose the medium difficulty and played the game on that. Funnily enough, even the normal difficulty can be a bit challenging and you still need to be on your toes at all times because you can still die pretty easily on it too if you are not careful enough or attentive.. hehe

So finally this game is 11/10 gems for me, for being stellar. I can't find anything wrong with it and I think it's a great game, design wise and everything :)
