EDIT: I forgot to mention that overload has a small % bonus mining speed for every % of additional endless difficulty (between 150% and 900%), so it might be optimal, in easier levels with already low portal % difficulty, to play with higher % endless difficulty, to exploit the mining speed bonus from overload! Just adapt depending on how much research you have, and what you need to farm :)
