The marvel studios logo bleeds from red to purple and vanishes using the same effect as Agatha’s powers. This foreshadows that this is episode is very much centered around our villain Agatha Harkness.
Flash to Agatha Harkness being hoisted onto a post where these witches, including her mother attempt to kill her, but instead give her powers. This is similar to her origin story in the comics. However, a bunch of the townspeople tried to set her ablaze instead of a crew of witches. Of course, this is Salem, Massachusetts 1693
We know that Agatha possessed this Pietro and used him to spy on Wanda. So this whole time, especially in episode 6, she was talking to Wanda there. Not Pietro.
Then we get a briefcase full of Wanda’s favorite sitcoms as a kid. I love Lucy being the inspiration for episode one, Bewitched - that was episode 2, Malcolm in the middle - episode 6, The Addams Family is more or less a reflection of the show. A family of monsters navigating a normal life. Wanda’s family is a family of powerful mutants navigating normal life.
The way their parents died changed. The missile blew the side of their house, but the parents were crushed by the rubble instead of what Quicksilver told us in Age Of Ultron. His story was that the parents fell into a gaping hole in the building when the missile crashed through the wall.
I don’t know if I’m the only one who noticed this but, I think Wanda is done living the tv life as there was no funny sitcom intro and no commercial this week.
Then we find out that Wanda diffuses the missile that was going to blow up in their faces. This means that Wanda was born with powers and later on in the episode, the mind stone just helps her embrace that part of herself. This means since she was born with powers, that she is the MCU’s first mutant, her and Pietro.
This of course takes place before age of Ultron, so you know that mind stone is in Loki’s scepter from the first Avengers movie. Ah, that reminds me of simpler times.
Well, we’re hanging out in this scene where Wanda officially gets her powers, we have to talk about the stone revealing to her - her scarlet which self in her comic book costume.
We jump to Vision and Wanda discovering their love for one and another. Since it’s on the Avengers compound, we can definitely assume this is just before Captain America Civil War which is the movie where the Avengers split.
When Wanda goes to recover Vision’s body from the SWORD compound, we see a shot of the TVs reporting on the celebration that everyone was blipped back after Stark sacrificed himself to return half of the universe. One of those news stations is WHIH news front which is a fake news center that has appeared in many Marvel movies such as Ant-Man and Iron man 2.
The “I can't feel you” statement that Wanda says to a dead Vision is a reference to Visions’ last words in Infinity War: I just feel you.
Wanda then goes to Westview to set up shop, on the way we come to know that Vision and Wanda planned to live there and we even see a few characters before the hex took over the town, such as Mrs. Hart and the mailman.
We then see Wanda let loose her Chaos magic, which from the comics allows the user to rewrite creation itself. Wanda is powerful y’all.
When Wanda infects the town with the hex, the billboard in the bottom right says snap: this refers to that infamous snap from either infinity war or endgame.
Before the hex infects those billboards, the one to the left here showcases a carton of milk, the same one that Wanda drank from in episode 7.
Agatha Harkness’s costume is early similar to the one in the comics.
