We continue our look at Steven Spielberg's b-sides with a film that bills itself as a comedy spectacular but seems to forget how to be funny; we're talking about the comedy war action mess that is 1941. Based on a script by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis along who were inspired by real-life events in LA before WWII, it features a star-studded cast of comedic and dramatic actors as they attempt to thwart an Axis invasion. It's a bizarre mashup of genres that, at times, doesn't work and at others only slightly works but ultimately is a lackluster addition to Spielberg's filmography. OughtFiveFilm's Father Malone joins Chris to talk about the film, his favorite Spielberg film, and whether the film deserves all the hate.
