카가미 신노스케


SNK가 제작한 게임 월화의 검사에 등장하는 캐릭터. 위의 일러스트만 보면 멀끔한 미남이지만, 실제 1편 게임 내에서는 눈을 뒤집어 흰자위를 드러내고 썩소를 짓고 있다. 저 2편의 일러스트는 광기가 빠져서 차분해진 것.

지옥문의 봉인을 수호하는 사신 중 하나인 주작의 수호자이며 현무옹의 제자. 본래는 충의가 깊고 인간에게 호의적이었으나 1편에서는 지옥문의 사기에 홀려 인간을 '이기적이고 잔인하며 어리석은 존재' 라 간주한 나머지 다른 사신 수호자들을 제거하려 들어 친구인 나오에 시겐을 봉인시키고[2] 전대 청룡인 카에데의 스승 가이세이를 직접 죽인 다음 인간을 멸망시키기 위해 지옥문을 여는 최종 보스로 등장했다. 신노스케의 마수 때문에 현무옹은 신노스케를 피해 숨어지내야했고, 미나카타 모리야도 당시 스승을 죽인 그에게 덤볐으나 상처 한번 내고는 처참하게 패배했다.

그러나 2편에서는 청룡으로 각성한 카에데에게 패하고 "나의 야망의 거대한 구멍과 함께 헛되이 끝나는 것...또한 미학인가.(我が野望の大穴とともに朽ちて果てるも...また、……美学か)"라면서 지옥문에 몸을 던졌으나 지옥문은 연 자가 닫아야만 한다는 숙명 때문에 죽음의 문턱에서 쫓겨나 제정신을 차리고 통상 플레이어블로 등장한다.

2편 엔딩에서는 지옥문이 닫힌 후, 인간들에게 다시 한번 희망을 걸어 보겠다는 뜻을 현무옹에게 밝히고, 세월이 흘러 그의 검 서봉이 현대의 쓰레기장에 박혀있는 의미심장한 컷을 보여준다. 함께 나오는 문장은 월화의 검사 스토리의 대미를 장식한다고 할 수 있을 내용.

모델은 만화 유유백서에 등장하는 센스이 시노부. 생김새에서 미간의 백호와 인간 비판적 태도를 거의 그대로 차용했다. 막말의 일본인이라고 생각하기 어려운 유럽풍 귀족 패션과 긍지 높고 탐미주의적인 성격도 카리스마를 보조하는 요소들. 이런 이미지가 국내에서 더 라스트 솔저란 이름으로 수입되면서 Mr.BIN이라는 근거불명의 이름으로 개명되었고, 바람의 아들이 칼 하나를 줍고 영국의 모 개그맨(이쪽과는 스펠링이 조금 다르지만)과 진검승부(眞劍勝負)를 하러 길을 떠나는 4차원적인 게임으로 변질되고 말았다. 국내 가동판을 기억하는 이들이라면 실소할 수밖에 없었던 변경점.

1막 보스로 등장시에는 루갈 번스타인이나 아마쿠사 시로 도키사다가 그러했듯, 1라운드에선 적당히 봐주면서 싸우다가 한번 지면 본 실력을 드러내고 싸운다는 전통의 클리셰가 적용되었다. 이때 각성시의 대사는 "모든 것이 끝난다. 그리고 시작되지. (全てが終わり、そして始まる。)" 각성 커맨드는 카에데와 같은데, 당연하겠지만 체력이 줄어드는 페널티 따위는 전혀 없다.

캐릭터 성능은 뭐... 최종 보스다 보니 더럽게 강하다. 기본기는 지상에서나 공중에서나 범위 넓고 판정 극상이라 적당히 스쳐도 어지간한 기술은 다 들어가며 필살기의 성능과 화력은 뭐 하나 꿀리는 게 없다. 대쉬 속도도 광속[3]에 백대쉬중에는 무적, 게다가 앉은 자세와 서 있는 자세가 거의 차이가 없지만 방어가 가능함은 물론 하단 기본기도 전부 제대로 갖추고 있어서 상대가 언제 중하단을 노려야 할지 헷갈리게 만든다(이건 2막 황룡도 마찬가지).

대공기 초포후(황천으로의 날개)는 완전 무적에 마지막에 간단하게 초오의 홍련주작(패배의 심판)으로 승화가 가능한데다 고성능 장풍 반사기 기만의 거울도 가지고 있으며 시라누이(지옥의 업화)는 약으로 사용하면 나가는게 빠르고 딜레이가 전혀 안 보여서 막말로 마구 질러도 되고 강을 연속기로 집어넣으면 데미지가 끝내준다. 근접전에선 대쉬후의 커맨드 잡기 염포후(어리석은 자의 탄식)[4]가 어이없는 위력으로 사람 맛가게 만들며, 구석에 몰아넣은 뒤 공중에서 가드 불능 레이저를 뿌리는 초오의 패배의 세례를 날려주면 이동기나 회피기가 없는 캐릭터는 그냥 맞고 죽어야 한다. 잠재오의 분서갱유(검푸른 맹금)가 연속기에 넣기 힘들다는 결점은 있지만 이것도 각성시라면 강베기에서 넉넉하게 들어간다. 특수기 초각 분여는 고우키의 천마공인각처럼 기습에도 좋고 맞추면 타점에 따라 초포후부터 잠재오의까지 골라 넣어줄 수 있는 고성능.


Shinnosuke Kagami

Shinnosuke Kagami (嘉神 慎之介, Kagami Shinnosuke), commonly called by his surname Kagami, is a 31 year-old character from the Last Blade series. He was the featured boss character of the first game but he became a playable character in the sequel. His symbolic items are western clothing and his sword. His official slogan is "Crisis Christ": 堕天の剣 (Daten no Ken, lit. Fallen Heaven's Sword).

He was modeled after the anime character Shinobu Sensui, one of the main antagonists in YuYu Hakusho (he even had a mole on his face during his earlier concepts). The choice to dress him in an inverness cape was made to represent Japan's growing acceptance of foreign ideals, which was deliberately meant to be ironic to his role in the first game.

He is voiced by Makoto Awane.


Personality

Shinnosuke Kagami is a refined gentlemen who is pretentious to people who don't amuse him. His act of rebellion towards mankind may have been fueled by his exposure to humanity's worst traits, hence setting in motion the events of the game. He once loathed people who he thought were beneath him, but he eventually believes that they are the hope of the future.


Fighting Style

Kagami fights with his own version of kendo and flame, focusing on wide-yet-careful one-handed swings. When he is awakened, his flames are tinted blue.

A lot has been changed in his transition from boss to regular character, including added attack frames and re-imagined attacks. In good hands, Kagami is just as deadly as his boss version but now requires skills and visualization to do so.

His prominent strengths comes from blind-siding attacks such as his overhead dive, certain overhead attacks (Shiranui follow-up from Gōen Sō), unblockable super attacks, just like his boss form, and his command grab, which can ruin an enemy's momentum. His strong slash (B) and more prominently, his power slash (Fwd+B), while significantly toned down to regular damage, is a table-turner when done as a counter-attack or right after a repel attack. This is particularly true for the latter, and the former provides more damage when incorporated into combos. His kick attack does not send the opponent crashing to the wall, but instead slides to the ground.

Along with Musashi, he can charge his super meter to gain access to his DMs faster, which is especially helpful in EX mode where his power gain is slower, and the move is not affected by the mode's balance change.

Kagami is far more fearsome in Power in terms of inflicting damage with careful links and surprise counterattacks. On the other hand, this makes him easy to read, and requires utilizing a lot from his arsenal to keep opponents guessing. This predictability pitfall is remedied by EX mode, which sacrifices some endurance and a bit of strength for more unpredictability, or a reactive punishing gameplay style in Power, using unblockable attacks, and of course, his notorious power slash comeback attack.
