20221125 - What is free will? (via: Muses)
- Sponsored by Year 1 Class 1
- Free will comes from the quantum mechanical randomness that underpins the ability of the brain to process and interpret information
- stochastic events and stochastic variables at the biochemical level
- this is an inherently quantum event
- Quoting the bible in a discussion on evolution makes it difficult for me to address your points
- related to free will
- faith is not inherently anti-science
- "I believe and therefore it must be true" is not faith, that is boneheadedness
- If you have your faith, you hold on to it,
- do not use it as an excuse to reject something you do not yet understand
- Organised religion tries to bring order to a more messy human society
- this inherently means conformation
- because free will comes from randomness, and order is meant to suppress randomness, organised religion can sometimes be suppressive of free will
- no matter what system, if we try to bring order to it, we are inherently suppressing degrees of freedom within it
- constraining a ball bearing to roll down a slope with a channel
- designated taxi spots in the city
- a city zoning, residential areas are put farther away from dirty factory zones, etc
- nation states, border, e.g. Holy Roman Empire
- Religion,
- politics as a religion
- MAGA vs RINO vs independent vs DEM vs PROG
Today, Boys and Girls, we will continue our study of the Human Condition via ... ... ... that.
Nothing here is investment advice.
