2023 F1 LAS VEGAS GP Qualifying by Peter Windsor
1,618It's Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull-Honda RBPT) on the front row for the 2023 Las Vegas GP - and it looks as though it'll be very close over the race distance. Ferrari's Carlos Sainz actually qualified a brilliant P2, only fractions of second behind Leclerc, but the damage his Ferrari sustained by the loose manhole cover in FP1 - and subsequent repairs to the chassis and power unit - mean that (very unfairly) he will have to start P12. Mercedes' George Russell thus starts third, ahead of Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the excellent Williams-Mercedes of Alex Albon and the local hero, Logan Sargeant. In this video Peter looks back at all these performances, offers explanations for the disappointing qualifying pace of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and the two McLaren-Mercedes - and looks ahead to Saturday night's race (local time).
