2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT wins Road & Track Performance EV of the Year
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has claimed the prestigious title of Road & Track’s Performance Electric Vehicle of the Year in the over $100,000 category. This win marks a significant milestone for Porsche, as it is the second year in a row a Taycan variant has taken this honor. Last year, the Taycan Turbo S received the same recognition in this fiercely competitive field.
Daniel Pund, editor-in-chief at *Road & Track*, highlighted the remarkable advancements of the Taycan Turbo GT, saying, “The Taycan Turbo GT stands out, even when compared to its already outstanding sibling, the Taycan Turbo S, which won last year. What makes this car special is that it combines everyday usability with the distinction of being Porsche’s most powerful production car ever.”
Timo Resch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Cars North America, expressed gratitude for the accolade, emphasizing the dedication behind the Taycan’s evolution. “We are honored to receive this award, especially in a category as competitive as this one. It reflects the incredible work that has gone into creating this new and exciting model,” Resch shared.
To qualify for this year’s Performance Electric Vehicle of the Year competition, vehicles had to show significant improvements over their 2023 counterparts while focusing on driver engagement. Each contender needed to be available in the United States by the end of 2024. Judges from Road & Track assessed the cars over four days, testing them on public roads in the Delaware River Valley and at the New York Safety Track. Notably, the Taycan Turbo GT completed laps on the track two seconds faster than its nearest competitor.
For the 2025 model year, the Taycan lineup received comprehensive updates, enhancing performance, extending range, and improving charging capabilities. The Turbo GT, positioned at the top of the Taycan range, is powered by an astounding 1,019 horsepower and accelerates to 60 miles per hour in just 2.1 seconds with the Weissach Package, solidifying its place as Porsche’s most powerful road car to date.
