Alright, so this wasn't so bad. This was done after beating Sephiroth, so dying really wasn't an issue for this run. The challenge mostly comes from doing enough damage to actually make it through bosses in time. Accelerate is pretty much a necessity. Without Accelerate, I did a light save-state runthrough as practice and I made it to Rock Titan with 10 seconds on the clock, so it had to be done. And it really improved the time by like, 20%? Maybe? I dunno math, but that sounds right. Kinda.
To summarize:
1. Thunder does good damage with Wisdom Mode. Using the Thundagun accessory from the accessory shop lets me restore MP every time it hits, letting it be spammed easily when paired with Wisdom's rapid auto-MP restoration. Basically the only bosses that really resist Thunder are Leon and Behemoth. I think Hades does too, but it still does decent damage and Blizzaga isn't shortcutted so I don't really have time to use it. Donald Link puts all magic at finisher strength, so it shreds through mobs and destroys bosses.
2. Accelerate boosts the speed of Sora and enemies by 20%. This makes bosses that stall like Cloud and Hades get through their long attacks much faster.
3. I think if you end a boss seed with Donald Link active, you'll lose 3 MP until after the next boss seed. Not sure why, but it's worth realizing.
So here's some of the strategies I used:
41st - Behemoth: Gravity does a lot to him until about a bar and a half. At this point, I just use physical combos with Valor mode and hope that I crit him down to death quickly. While his head is swinging around, it's probably faster to just Gravity spam on Wisdom or use Agile mode to stay on him. You can die to his attacks easily, so if you're not casting a safety Aero, you'll probably be one-shot.
31st - Cerberus: The same sort of strategy. He absolutely cannot hit you while you stand on his back so you're free to spam magic. It's much faster than chasing the heads.
21st - Cloud & Leon: So Cloud takes normal damage from Thunder and Leon takes half damage. You may as well spam Thunder on Cloud so that he aggros on allies attacking him and hope you catch Leon in the crossfire. Once he goes into Omnislash, go after Leon while waiting. If you have Aeroga on, you can just tank hits to restore MP for Aerogas and just go crazy. Once Cloud is gone, just do combos on Leon to quickly finish him off. If you do attack cancels, Leon won't be able to land any hits and you'll just auto-parry all his attacks.
11th Seed - Hades: This is what makes time trial difficult. His temper flare lasts a good 10 seconds normally, which is a long time when he does it so often. He does it often as a revenge, which activates in about 4 hits with Aeroga. Without Aeroga he isn't safe because he can just snap his fingers and 1-hit you. The best time to raise MP for Aeroga is right after temper flare, where a full combo or two can get you at 2 MP quickly. If you Thunder spam him, he basically brick walls you, which is good in this case since there's less of a chance he'll flare up. Gravity does decent damage on him, but it counts as a hit and he can always flare up during it.
2nd Seed - Rock Titan: Free fight. You can Thunder / Gravity spam him like Cerberus. Just don't die because he does a huge chunk of damage.
