2GB or 4GB Graphics Card ?? [Read the description first !!]
Yes, we know.
This video should have been a comparison between a 2GB version and a 4GB version of the same brand. Side by side, so you can have a look at the 'differences'.
Since we have no budget for that, we just wanted to show you what happens if you use more than 2GB of Video RAM with a 2GB card.
We took a cheap card and a lower end system to give you an idea.
Setup:
Motherboard: ASRock H110M Combo-G
Graphics Card : Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 2GB (Low Profile 2G)
RAM : 2X4GB 2400MHz CL15
SSD : 256GB
HDD : 3TB
EXTERNAL HDD : 4 TB
PSU : Cooler Master G650M
CASE : NZXT S340
2GB of Video RAM is not enough for the (high, very high,) extreme and ultra settings of many modern games.
Batman Arkham Knight allows you to use the (slow) system RAM and gives you clear warning:
VRAM usage is overcomitted. You will experience stuttering and framerate drops.
We ran this benchmark 3 times, the second time it crashed.
You can have a look the 'stuttering' in this video. (Framerate drop is unknown)
Not having dual channel (system) RAM makes things worse.
Is it worth saving for a 4GB Graphics Card ?? Well that's up to you.
