2nd World Series
The Bucs are in the World Series, as they face their Postseason rivals, the New York Yankees.
While not every baseball fan is on board with interleague play, it does give us World Series rematches from long ago. For example, the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates, who have twice met in the World Series. Obviously, this doesn’t make the Yankees and Pirates bitter rivals.
The first Yankees-Pirates World Series in 1927 wasn’t exactly a memorable one, at least for the Pirates. New York swept the series in four games with a team that featured both Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth in the prime of their careers. However, things were a little different when the Pirates got their rematch with the Yankees in the 1960 World Series. This was a back and forth series that became an all-time classic when Pittsburgh’s Bill Mazeroski hit a walk-off home run to win Game 7 for the Pirates, the first time that Game 7 of the World Series ended on a home run.
