Here is a making-of video showing how I went from blocking the main poses to the finished, rendered animation. You'll also notice that although texturing, lighting, rendering, and (very light) compositing were not the focus of this project, I did change them a bit as I realized that I would have a JUST ENOUGH time to fully render the scene in Mental Ray (which wasn't a requirement, but it does make the animation more visually appealing to people who aren't as interested with the inner workings of animation).
