48 minutes and 35 seconds of bad Balatro gameplay
on an unrelated note, can someone tell me what's wrong with my playstyle? I've only barely managed three wins in my Balatro career, and I don't understand why.
Okay, since no one reads the description, I'm gonna just rant a bit about Balatro.
The game is absolutely fantastic. I love the rush of getting the right jokers and playing the right hand and all that jazz. The problem comes, as most games do, with the fact that the game is all based on random chance. I'm not sure what it is, but no matter what I do, chance is never, and I mean NEVER on my side. I try and try and try for the numbers to roll in my favor, and they never do. It's not just Balatro; I've played Dungeons and Dragons for years now, and only JUST LAST SESSION, after YEARS of rolling and praying, do the numbers start turning for the better. So, it should come as no surprise that when I play roguelikes - Slay the Spire and Balatro, namely - that I end up having a middling time. I can understand the ins and outs of the game, or not know spit, and I'll still suck like someone who has never even heard of a video game before. Balatro is no exception. If I roll a good hand, I roll bad jokers. If I roll good jokers, the game keeps dealing me ABSOLUTE, BOTTOM-OF-THE-BARREL, SCUM-SUCKING, BOTTOM-FEEDING, DECADE-OLD, ROTTEN GARBAGE! I'm so pissed at RNG, and unfortunately games like these seem to always have some random element that makes me upend the table. It's like the universe decides on a whim that some quarks need to be adjusted or gamma rays flip bits in places where they just screw me over three ways to Sunday.
I suppose it's not me being mad at Balatro specifically, I'm just mad at the fact randomness sucks if you have bad luck.
...pixel art nitpicking video to come.
