(4k) Wondabyne Station - NSW, AUSTRALIA | The only train station with no road access | 2023.
(4k) Trip from Sydney Central Station to Wondabyne Train Station, New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The only train station with NO road access! Visited during January 2023. Captured using my DJI Osmo Action 3, with some parts using my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Good thing we didn't encounter any venomous snakes. If you do, there's CCTV and Help Points so if you encounter a wild snake and get bit, New Castle or Sydney could send a helicopter to your aid. To put everyone's mind at ease, snake sightings in the immediate vicinity of the station, is rare. Just be mindful and you'll enjoy your visit.
Wondabyne Station is only about a 40 minute train trip from Sydney Central Station, on a double decker train XD! The station sits on the New Castle Line. The train service only operates once every hour. However there's only like a 15 minutes max window from when you arrive at Wondabyne, before the train you caught from Central arrives back, heading back to Central... unless you want to wait another hour for the next one.
To get to the station, you need to ask the train guard that you want to get off at Wondabyne Station. You also need to be on the last/back/rear carriage to get off at Wondabyne... When you want to board a train from Wondabyne, signal the driver to stop, then board via the last/back/rear carriage. Note when you embark or disembark at Wondabyne, the train doors WON'T automatically open. You'll need to manually open the doors by pressing the geen button when lit. They likely do this for security purposes (snakes) and since the station is in the middle of nowhere, it isn't busy enough to necessitate automatic doors.
Wondabyne Station is the only train station with no road access. Situated in the middle of nowhere, its a popular place for our generation who are into social media, to share our experience. If you want to escape the hustle & bustle of city life, you'll be rewarded with trees, a large lake, and no cars.
I am to come back next summer (December 2023/January 2024). Sydney NSW Australia offers FAR CHEAPER & BETTER public transport than New Zealand. Only $6 max to travel over 100km from Sydney Central Station to Wondabyne! In New Zealand we'd pay at least $50 to travel that distance on a train! Love Australia.
