Adamantium, named after the legendary metal Adamantine from Greek mythology, is a steel alloy renowned for its near-indestructible properties. Its origins trace back to the efforts of American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain during World War II, when he was tasked by the U.S. government with military research and development. In a metallurgical mishap, MacLain inadvertently crafted the Vibranium-steel compound, an indestructible substance used to forge the iconic shield wielded by the super-soldier Captain America. Despite decades of endeavor to replicate the process, MacLain was unable to do so. However, in the 1960s, he succeeded in creating True Adamantium as a result of his persistent experimentation.
