#542 Guilty Gear Dust Strikers Boss: Gig "gameplay".
Botched gameplay of the boss Gig in Arc System Works' Guilty Gear Dust Strikers for the Nintendo DS.
I was speaking to the user Jose Roberto the other day, who reminded me that Dust Strikers, contrary to what I had thought, was actually a port of Isuka to the DS. Why they decided to port a three year old game to a handheld console at the time I really don't know, but this was definitely Arc's weird phase.
Realising this, I thought I'd give hacking Gig, the boss of the game, a go. Unfortunately, as you can tell by the inverted commas surrounding gameplay in the title, this didn't go according to plan. Gig seems to just play automatically anyhow, and as soon as the battle begins he is instantly defeated. This is seemingly because Gig has no real health bar in the game, and if a character registers that a character selected by the player has no health, well, that must mean that the player has lost the match. As a result, this makes Gig unplayable, unless there was a lot of hacking involved to alter that, and in all honesty who the hell has time for that. Anyway, I thought this was an interesting discovery nonetheless, and at the very least worth sharing as a stopgap between this series and the next game I'll be covering.
Next up, another insufferable mess in the form of Astra Superstars.
