The final stretch of Ninja Gaiden II, Chapter 12 saw me incurring more deaths than any other single chapter in which I died, not to mention a weird moment where I cancelled the OT animations on the armadillos and one of them got me with their suicide explosion. Weird. Regardless, I made it to the end, and tried my luck at the Tonfa Survival mission again to see if I could get the 2 million points for the gold medal. Alas I didn't, but it was still an improvement on my previous score. This really was a lot of fun, if I wasn't already prepared to stream other consoles after this, I'd go straight into another playthrough with a different weapon. Or revisit the higher difficulties. Ninja Gaiden II is a rough gem that fucking shines when it has its moments.
