Basically you want to watch for traces in the idol's facial expression that will reveal what she's going to throw out. In Takane's case, you pay attention to the corners of her mouth. If they're facing upwards (a smile) she throws out rock. Downwards (frown) and she throws out scissors. If her mouth's a single straight line, it's paper.
