This is a tutorial on how to get within Top 20 in the Dotop TV ranking within the first 10 weeks (only works on your second playthrough onwards as it will require some war funds).

You unlock harder auditions (which gives you a lot more fans and money) by getting into the Top 50 (Tier 2) and Top 20 (Tier 3) respectively. So unlocking the hardest auditions as soon as possible is a good way to ensure you have a fair shot at attaining the True End (attain the Idol Academy grand prix award along with all the special category awards) for your chosen unit leader.

During week 3 where you have to take part in your debut audition, make sure you equip either one of the three amulets highlighted in the video tutorial. These three super amulets decrease the "interest decay rate" for two of your three appeal genres (either Dance and Visual, Visual and Vocal, or Vocal and Dance).

Next, equip all your best items for the second of two appeal genres affected (Visual for Dance and Visual, Vocal for Visual and Vocal, and Dance for Vocal and Dance). This is important as appeals will raise the "interest rate" of the genre to the right of it; and you don't want to raise the interest rate of the one genre your equipped amulet doesn't enhance.

In my case, as you can see I've pumped my Visual genre parameter to as high as my currently unlocked accessories will allow.

At the beginning of the audition, do a few appeals in the first genre that your amulet protects (in my case Dance) so as to raise the interest rate of your second genre (Visual, for me) to 1.50.

Then just switch your to your best genre as soon as you reach 1.50. Keep doing those appeals until you feel your voltage meter and attain a Burst Appeal.

To get the most points, the Burst Appeal should ideally be done by an idol who specialises in the genre your amulet does not enhance. In my case, this was Vocal. And that's why I selected Chihaya as one of my idol unit members - during her Burst Appeal she hits Vocal Burst a whopping 6 times.

(Other idols who have good genre Bursts: Hibiki = 6 Dance Bursts, Miki = 5 Visual Bursts, Mami = 5 Dance Bursts)

Using the right idol for your Burst Appeal is key to getting super high scores late game when your danketsu/Unit parameter is maxed out.

Anyway, back to the audition. After using a Burst Appeal, do a Memory Appeal to reset all the genres' interest rates to 1.10. Then rinse and repeat with the aforementioned strategy.

BUT, do not activate your second Burst Appeal when your voltage gauge is full. Save it for near the end of the song, and use it when you feel that the audition is about to end as Burst Appeals will not be cut off prematurely. This allows you to "extend" your audition for that much more points.

You will need a high score of at least 20,000 in this debut audition if you want to
get into top 20 with your 1st song. Buying expensive accessories and equipping them will make this easier.

After the debut audition, for the next two weeks, schedule the following:
4th week: Paid Promotion (costs money but gives you 9000 fans) + Lesson
5th week: Paid Promotion (costs money but gives you 9000 fans) + Lesson

Then on the 6th week, go for another audition, ideally one that corresponds to the area you went for Paid Promotion in your 4th week.

If you do this right you will end up with roughly 10,000 fans in two separate areas with pink Awareness level (the smiley face).

This should be enough to get you into the Top 50 (if not Top 20). After two or three weeks more, the accumulated sales should take you to within Top 20.
