7Kingdom Hearts III is an Action RPG developed and published by Square Enix. This game is the 12th game release in the Kingdom Hearts franchise which is said to conclude the “Dark Seeker Saga” story. Like the previous two main titles, you will be using the amnesiac Sora in his and his fellow keyblade holders preparation to the upcoming war against the Organization XIII lead by Master Xehanort. Together with his trusty buddies Donald and Goofy, Sora would visit various Worlds (majority are worlds which are IPs of Disney) in order to help save each of their conflicts as well to relearn most of his lost powers especially the Power of Waking. With the Iconic trio, you will see the end of the Xehanort storyline and how it would affect every character that had been introduced in the series.
This game received an average Metacritic score of 83 (Playstation 4) and 80 (Xbox One). Praises were given on the designs of each of its Worlds, the fast and fluid combat, the no-holds barred inclusion of different type of game mechanics and genres, as well as its graphics. As regards the criticisms, its plot and storyline delivery was poorly received for being predictable, the Gummi Ship mechanic was bland, the absence of Final Fantasy characters, the rehashed boss fights in its conclusion, and some of the Worlds being short, joyless and empty.
As for me, there are ups and downs for me in this game. I really love the fluid gameplay introduced by this game from the start. It had made a good mixed of classic KH combat and added it with other extra mechanics during fights which gives not only a stylish graphical marvel but also minimizes the bore due to repetitive combats, I love the worlds which were featured in this game which are distinct with each other, the graphics and how its exploration is not as confusing as the other titles. However, not all is good for me as I did not like the delivery of its storyline, its explanation to various plot elements is confusing, the fact also that you needed to know the plot of other titles (including the spin-offs) are annoying as you will be left muddled if you don’t know them, even if you do know them the story is still not easy to understand, the tutorial pop-ups are numerous which slowly becomes annoying as you continue the game, the lack of Final Fantasy characters which are a staple in its previous titles, and how the Gummi ship part of the game is made more complicated which is a step-back to the much simpler mechanic of the previous titles. Still though, if you are a big fan of the series, I really recommend this game as it is a very enjoyable experience. Enjoy!!!
