In this video I will give you some tips on how to deal with the sometimes (but for some people always) poor audio quality of the radios when flying on the VATSIM network.
Why is the quality so bad? It's because of the way the VATSIM servers deal with the audio. However, there are some tips to deal with that and to contribute yourself to getting a better audio quality:
- Split the flightsim audio and ATC audio: 0:51
- Buy a proper headset: 2:17
- Wear and use the headset properly: 3:14
- TEST YOUR MICROPHONE!: 4:45
- Fly to/from regions with controllers you know have good quality: 6:10
- Disable VHF simulation: 7:19
- Tell the controller about his/her poor voice quality: 8:06
- Last resort, ask via text: 8:48
