Chapter 1–The new 911 on an exceptional excursion [00:20]
It’s only passable for four hours a day—driving along the Passage du Gois in France is inextricably linked with the ebb and flow of the tide. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean can rise to a depth of up to 3 meters on the road. People are subject to the ebb and flow of life—and the Porsche 911 is no different.
Chapter 2—Porsche Wet Mode: Greater safety in the 911 [02:17]
Maximum safety when rain hits the road—offered by Porsche Wet Mode in the new 911. Acoustic sensors in the wheel wells of the iconic sports car “hear” spray thrown up by the tires. A message on the display recommends that the driver use the assistance system—even if the showers are over but the road is still wet. That means no restriction in power, but greater stability and a typical Porsche feeling.
Chapter 3—R Group: the craziest clique in the USA [03:33]
If you drive a historical Porsche in rough wind and weather, you can only be a member of the R Gruppe. Its main rule is “there are no rules.” Many people want to join, but not every Porsche enthusiast can become a member. “The R Gruppe is a close-knit group. Everyone has to be active. If you don’t join in, you’re out,” says founder Cris Huergas. The welded bonds of the R Gruppe last for lifetimes.
Chapter 4—Magical rainy night in Le Mans [05:38]
A monochrome blue helmet was too commonplace for Hans-Joachim Stuck before his first race as a factory driver in 1971. So his girlfriend cut white stars from foil and glued them onto his helmet. They promptly became the Bavarian driver’s trademark. Also at Le Mans in 1987
in the victorious Porsche 962 C. Stuck’s magnificent performance on that rainy night laid the groundwork for the Porsche to win the race.
Chapter 5—Successful amid chaotic weather in Spa [07:11]
Buckets of rain, then snow—unfazed by the chaotic weather in Belgium’s Ardennes, Porsche clinches the GT title early in the World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps. Third and eighth place for the two Porsche 911 RSRs are enough to secure the title: Going into the grand finale, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team can no longer be dislodged from the top spot in the manufacturers’ classification.
