Quite a good beat em up so far. From my understanding it will be best to restart the run and spend the upgrade cash on 1-Ups purely, once I have all the worthwhile character upgrades. When you exhaust all lives on a stage you start back at the beginning of that stage, but with whatever lives you had when you got there. I only had 1 life since I didnt realise the importance of stocking up, so I will likely restart with this character and spend the cash on lives only. Maybe see if there is some other good upgrades too, and get those. There is also a stage select, but that may start me with the 5 lives default for a stage. Have to test all of that out next time.
