A 2024 Return to Antstream Arcade
Antstream Arcade (https://www.antstream.com/) is a streaming gaming service offering thousands of retro titles. While the focus is on arcade titles, there are many classic consoles represented here too (NES, SNES, Amiga, Atari, and more). This is a free service if you just want to access a limited number of games accessible, though you can buy a imo-reasonably-priced Premium subscription to have access to the full library and remove ads.
I've checked this service out before in the past and it was quite good! Streaming games can always be a question of lag and latency but I found that Antstream ran very reliably with minimal lag, and their selection was quite robust (and has only grown since then). I'm back again as the folks over at Antstream reached out to me and gave me another year of Premium in return for me coming back to stream the platform some more!
In particular today, Antstream has tasked me with playing Mr Tuff, a cancelled 1994 SNES game that never saw the light of day...until now, as it's been released and playable for the first time ever on Antstream. It looks like a pretty solid action platformer! The SNES was not without plenty of that genre, but it does appear to be a cut above the vast majority of more-mediocre entries. Perhaps it's a hidden gem...let's find out!
