"A Bell Is Tolling" on Mario Paint Composer/Orchestra
81"A Bell Is Tolling" is the music that plays at the Ice Palace in "Secret of Mana". Duh.
In the third segment, there's a lot of staccato (notes starting and stopping). However, because of Orchestra's notes always playing on for like two seconds, I always had to put in an extra note at minimum volume just to make them stop. Unfortunately, if you mute one note, you mute everything, so half the notes at the end don't even get through. It was quite the nightmare trying to work around that, especially with the bassline. I'm pretty sure it could be done better, but oh well.
Otherwise I guess it's allright. This was a pain in the ass to record. I tried it on the 2nd of three quality settings on my video camera, and it comes out at 122 Mb. A 2:40 video, 122 megabytes. Holy whoa. So I had to do it all over again on the low setting, but by that time I was just like screw it, this is going up no matter what it looks like.
The soundset I used can be downloaded at the link at the bottom of this description. At least I hope it stays there, but otherwise you can also Google "Mario Paint Orchestra" to find it. Basically once you've downloaded it, you have to go into the "Prefs" folder of Mario Paint Composer and replace the file that ends in sf2 (it should be "soundset.sf2") with one of the ones that you just downloaded, but you have to rename it to "soundset.sf2" so that MPC recognizes it as the sound set to use. Which means you'll have to rename the original sound set to something else. I don't know if you have to keep the .sf2 file type, but I wouldn't take any chances!
