★ A decent battle - Mount & Blade: Warband the Last Days of the Third Age (warband mod) - Ep 4
7Mount & Blade: Warband is one of my favorite games from the last several years. I've put hundreds of hours into it (and the original Mount & Blade) playing the main game and various mods. Well, Mount & Blade: Warband the Last Days of the Third Age is a port of a mod designed for the original M&B, and it's glorious.
The Last Days of the Third Age mod is all about Tolkien's world. You play either as an individual of the armies of man (which also means elf and dwarf) or as part of the might of Mordor. Want to be an elf? Sure. Which place do you call home? Mirkwood Forest? Rivendell? Lothlorien? You have choices. That is, in part, why this mod is so good. So many choices, so many possibilities, and so much good M&B carnage once you get down to it.
Let's face it: it's all about the combat in this game. It's not the best combat of every game ever made, but it's incredibly satisfying. It rewards tactics and bravery, and brutally punishes foolhardiness and inattention. That's M&B for you.
This series, for however long it may last (historically, my TLD saves have become corrupted and stopped working) is just for me. Most everything else is for you--but this one is for me.

TLD The Last Days of the Third Age, is a total conversion modification for Mount and Blade 1.011. The mod is set in Middle Earth a fantasy world created by J.R.R.Tolkien in his novel “Lord of the Rings” and others. TLD is inspired by the books and is not a moviebased mod.
Our goal is to allow the player to participate in the War of the Ring, in which forces of light and darkness battle over the fate of Middle Earth (for practical reasons of war intensity, only the part east of the Misty Mountains is covered by the map).
