A platformer... ON ICE! - Linked Mask! (WillPending 02/04/2021)
0In today's record of Linked Mask I piece apart what the game has to offer in its demo! Linked Mask is probably the hardest one to talk about in retrospect. I don't think the game is flawed from its mechanics, but the level design in particular feels fairly lackluster in moments. The starting area was decent, but as soon as you enter the manor proper it throws a handful of new mechanics at you before you've even figured out how the last one works! And beyond that the main gimmick of the game (that slopes give insane momentum) is painfully misused. I'd love to see slopes in opportune moments to really allow the player to string together jumps that keep that momentum building and potentially allow the player to skip sections that they'd otherwise not be able to jump across, but instead the developer places you in a strict linear path where slopes are primarily facing backwards as a hazard.
This game was one of many demos played over the course of one stream during the Steam game festival. It should be kept in mind that anything shown is subject to change as the game continues development.
