This right here is why I think Neo's combat system lends itself to more mechanical fluidity than the OG TWEWY. The level of agency given to the player to seamlessly transition from a pin combo to mashup to pin combo then back to mashup in blistering sequence makes maintaining offense in battle such a joy. Being able to constantly make decisions on the fly about what combos to string together next to reach the desired groove mashup is the meat and potatoes of this game's combat system, and is one that takes skill to pull off effectively and intelligently. While OG TWEWY may have had a few more systems than Neo, the latter provides way more options and utility with its systems: 3 mechanics that can provide 12 different options each is always going to provide more depth and skill satisfaction than 7 mechanics than can only provide 2 different options each.
