A Session in Masochistic Filler
My apologies for not uploading anything in a few days. Recently I've had my hands full with work, and just generally not feeling very well overall. There's also another factor that's put a halt on my current playthrough, which has lead me to this announcement: I am currently dropping MM5 Maverick Revenge 2 for the time being. I would have loved to finish it during a recorded session, but of course, a few technical issues prevented me from doing so. To make a long story short, the footage for the whole rest of the game became corrupted - and since I put save states to easily pick up my progress in-between takes, it would mean that I'd have to go back and do the entire game/castles all over again to get back to the point where I was. That's not going to happen, mostly on account that I hate going through the fights with every single incarnation of Dark Man (to the point where I could possibly consider them to be some of the most lazily designed bosses in the entire series, in all honesty). It would be more of a chore than anything to go back and do that for a playthrough series that likely wouldn't be as interesting as some of my other ones.
So to potentially make up for that, here's a filler video I did in my spare time. Some people have specific quirks when it comes to these games. RoahmMythril and PinkKittyRose do perfect runs (well, sometimes for the latter one), qzecwx goes on a buster-only crusade against Chiko's incarnations of Crystal Man, and as for me...I seem to have a thing for Spark Man's stage in hacked games.
I don't know what it is about this stage that brings out the craziness in ROM hackers, but it seems like in nearly every Mega Man 3 hack I play, Spark Man's stage is always the worst/most hectic in terms of overall modifications. To delve into this a bit, I decided to play through one incarnation of such. This is Spark Man's stage from an MM3 hack called "Battle of Gamma" by DurfarC. By all accounts, the hack itself is pretty sub-par in terms of design. Nearly every stage has insane enemy placement in it, but Spark Man's seems to be especially evil in these regards (and many more). That's why I've taken it upon myself to perfect run the stage with the buster only, mostly as a slight means of payback against the horrible gauntlet of bullshit this level puts you through.
And no, I will not be doing a full playthrough of this hack. Aside from some changed music, levels, and other minor variations, there's nothing here that warrants a full run of it (that's not to mention the insane level design, of course).
