Mirko will present the work of Translators without Borders (TWB) and the role language technology they foresee to play for their work in the future. In his talk, he will highlight on the one hand the opportunities due to the convergence of the technological progress and needs of crisis-prone populations and on the other the risk of a growing divide, because of today's technologies dependency on data. Mirko will explain how TWB tries to identify opportunities that use a variety of technologies, to break what can be a vicious data-dependency circle, and also show the role of Microsoft technology, and in particular the Microsoft Translator API, plays in the work of TWB.
