The goal for this video was simple. Write a quick original song using only one guitar and perform it. Covers and shredding are cool, but it's nice to relax and have fun hitting that 8th string. Aside from that, I wanted to throw in a little clean outro to practice music theory a little bit.
For the rhythm tone, there was one objective in mind. I’ve used the aggressive modern-sounding split coil tones that position 2 on the selector switch yields in the past but for this song I wanted to use the full bridge humbucker. While I was trying for something between nu metal and metalcore, I didn’t put too much thought into trying to fit it into one particular box. If it worked, it worked.
Overall I wanted to showcase this guitar in a different light than how you usually see these things online - nothing against the virtuosos out there! And if I could have fun making an original song in the process, all the better.
