Ace Combat 2 is the sequel to Air Combat—known as Ace Combat in Japan. Facts! Ya heard it here, folks!

AC2 builds on the foundation of AC1, but honestly? I think it's actually a worse game. Sure, the graphics are better, the music absolutely slaps, and it's fast, fun, and flashy. But compared to AC1? The flying mechanics frustrate me. One second you feel like a glorious phoenix slicing through the sky, and the next? You're stalling out like Icarus screaming at Daedalus. In fact, do you know what the controls remind me of? Ace Combat 7.

And no, that's not a compliment.

Story-wise, AC2 is a prequel to AC1 and introduces the titular ACES—elite enemy pilots with names and egos to match, designed to push your skills to the limit. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a mysterious group of pure-red aircraft identified only as Z.O.E. Intelligence suggests that stands for Zone of Endless—A prototype drone program the enemy is developing...

Or at least, that’s how I think the story goes. If you’ve seen my Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere playthrough, you already know who—or what—the Z.O.E. Project eventually leads to. If you haven’t? What are you even doing?! Go watch it—now! It’s really, really good. It’s also my favorite Ace Combat game!

They saw an opportunity during a time when
their leaders were away from the country
on a diplomatic mission.

After the forces occupied the center of
administration, they seized control of
important facilities in each district.

They are expanding their influence while
strengthening their fighting power.

Their military capabilities include air and
sea forces. It has also been confirmed that
they are in possession of extra powerful
cruise missiles.

To respond to the rebel's forces, the military
corps' headquarters made a decision to use
the Special Tactical Fighter Squadron,
"Scarface" which consists of you,
my fellow pilots.

We want you to go on this mission and
suppress the coup d'etat immediately.

You will receive all-out support from our
military corps, full information regarding
the rebels, full cooperation through our
intelligence division, and military supplies.

The situation is tense,
and there is no time to waste.
Take on this mission immediately.
That is all.

MISSION ;

[ Interception of Invasion Unit ]
It's a rush sortie mission.

We have received information that
an enemy invasion unit is approaching
our front base.

It is a small unit with bombers
as its main force.

Take-off immediately, and shoot them
down!!
